network connectivity on PIX 515E

I am trying to recover a password on a PIX 515e. I set the interface address, gateway address, server address, and cannot ping the server, cannot see it on the network, etc. I am at a loss. I've never had this problem before.

How many interfaces are there and which one are you plugged into? Can you ping anything from the PIX?

My 525 has 10 interfaces on it but I am only using interface 0 for the recovery. Once I have link to interface 0 then I issue the following commands:

monitor>interface 0

monitor>address 192.168.98.131

monitor>server 192.168.98.130

monitor>file test.bin

monitor>ping 192.168.98.130 (success)

monitor>tftp

The ping, for me at least, only worked from PIX to my tftp server which was directly attached to interface 0 on the PIX (crossover cable). I did receive 20 percent packet loss during the ping which was interesting but the tftp was very fast... I could not ping the PIX from my tftp server. It also only worked if I issued the commands while the link was active.

Hope this helps.
