Maximum ARP Entries on a Sup720

Unanswered Question
Jan 14th, 2008

Hi All,

Just a very quick one. Is there any physical limitation to how many ARP entries a 6509 and sup720 can have?

Just checking if there is any physical limitation.

Kindest regards,

Ken

I have this problem too.

Hello, the above link is broken. Can someone post an updated link to this question?

Thanks.

Hi,

Not sure what this link is about but the limitations are as the following:

1. on 6500 the tested and recommended limit is 30k. Note that this is not a hard limit and in theory it is limited only byt he available DRAM.

2. on 7600 running 12.2(33)SRD2 ARP scales to 512k (static or dynamic)—This feature is supported with  3CXL versions of the Cisco 7600 Series ES+ line cards with  RSP720-3CXL-GE with 2G SP memory or RSP720-3CXL-10GE with 2G SP memory.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/7600/ios/12.2SR/configuration/guide/dynarp.html

On 7600 you can change this limit:

Kind Regards,
Ivan
