I had used the sho ip interface brief command and all the VLANs showed up under the interfaces column but none of the physical interfaces showed up and that's confusing me. I only see all the VLANs when I do sho interfaces, show ip intefaces brief but none of the physical interfaces are displayed.

Thanks for the reply but those commands didn't work. I can do a show module and received the module name but i the other command wasn't valid (sho int status module #)

You can also just try a "show run" to see the physical interfaces and "show vlan" to see the interface to vlan mappings.

I have tried all of those commands and under the interfaces, the VLANs would be displayed but not the physical interfaces. This is a 6500 switch by the way!

That doesn't look like the full output of a "sh module". Have you copied exactly what was on the screen.

It looks from the output that you only have a CSM (which is a loadbalancer) in the chassis. If this is the case then that is why you are not seeing any physical interfaces. But you should at least see physcial interfaces for the supervisor module.

Are you running in hybrid or native mode on your 6500 ?

Yes, I copied all the output off of the screen.

I am not sure if the switch was configured in hybrid or native mode! How can I find out?

Well "show module" should tell you :).

This is confusing because when you do a "sh module" you should at least get the supervisor in the output as well as the CSM.

When you log into the switch can you post the output of a "sh version".

Can you also post the output of "sh cdp neigh" please.

Okay, it's been a while since i used a 6500 in hybrid mode but i think this is what you have. You need to get onto the layer 2 switch part of the 6500 as i suspect you are on the MSFC.

Can you post the output of a "sh cdp neigh".
