Can anyone tell me if I can setup a monitor session and have the source and destination ports on different blades on the same switch? The switch in question is a catalyst 4507. The documentation says it has be be on the same switch, but all the example points to it being on the same blade. Not real clear and I am just trying save myself some work and or frustration.

Hi,

Sure you can, check this link for

CATOS http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4000/7.5/configuration/guide/span.html

IOS http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.1/12.1e/configuration/guide/span.html

..the source and destination in the example in "Configuring SPAN" is in different blade.

Dandy

Yes, you can also use RSPAN to monitor from a remote switch.
