yes, it is a know bug.

Try

ftp://:@ftp.cisco.com/cisco/voice/ip-phone/ip-iostsp/cme-gui-4.0.3.1.tar

If still problems, upgrade IOS image.

hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

This is not a bug, you are using an invalid syntax:

Try 'archive tar /x tftp://192.168.13.26//cme-gui-4.1.0.1.tar flash:'

Note the double forward slash '//' after the ip.

This is clearly documented.

It's definately a bug - CSCek63178

Symptom:

When extracting a .tar file via the command line from a tftp or ftp server

the following error may occur:

Router#archive tar /xtract ftp://X.X.X.X/XXXX.tar flash:

%Error, "ftp://X.X.X.X/XXXX.tar" is a directory.

Conditions:

This problem is seen when executing the command:

archive tar /xtract

With the source file coming from an ftp or tftp server will result in an

error message indicating that the source file is a directory.

Workaround:

There is no known workaround.

Fix is in 12.4.13e, 12.4(11)XJ, 12.4.15T
