What is the correct syntax for the FR static mapping

shouldnt it be

frame-relay map ip (remote next hop ip address)(local dlci)

In the CCNA book from Cisco press demonstrates mapping of the remote ip to the remote dlci

Can someone please clarify this to me?

It's not a local DLCI, that DLCI is being advertised by the frame-relay switch. Therefore, it's considered remote.

Hi Ceo,

I can feel your confusion as i've suffered a lot from it in the beginning of my career, is it a local or remote DLCI, the confusion comes from the fact that this DLCI is configured between the local router and the facing FR SWitch and thus i always thought of it as local, but the fact is that the FR Switch tells the local router that this is the DLCI that you can use to reach this remote site, and thus it is actually the remote site's DLCI (the DLCI to reach the remote site), this becomes more obvious with hub and spoke topologies, where the hub site has multiple DLCIs to reach multiple remote sites.

Mohammed Mahmoud.
