How do I redistribute a default route into a specific area with a specific metric?
RouterA ---- RouterB
|.......................|
|.......................|
RouterC......RouterD
RouterA and B are in Area 0.
RouterC is in area 10
RouterD is in area 20
How do I inject a default route into routerC with a metric of 10?
I can do it easily if I make it an NSSA and use "area 10 nssa default information originate metric 10" on routerA
Can I do this without forcing area 10 to be nssa?
Can I do redistribute route-map xxx something?

You can't redistribute a default route in OSPF but you can originate a default route with the command
default-information originate always metric 10

How can I originate this default route into a specific area and not all areas?

I do not believe that you can do this with OSPF. If you have a requirement to advertise it only into specific areas then perhaps you should consider running a different routing protocol that would allow you to do this.

On this requirement, you only have 2 options, if you decide to remain with OSPF as your routing protocol:
1) NSSA
2) Stub
