7960G not Powering Up on 2811

Currently have running a new 2811 with CME. It has a NME-16es-1g-p card in it and runs great with my 7911G and 7941G phones. I am currently trying to evaluate a rugged 7960G on it but it will not power on. I know that the 7940G uses Cisco prestandard PoE but from all the research online, it looks like this card should handle both 802.3af and cisco prestandard PoE.

If you do a sh power inline, are the ports enable d to have POE?

Good guide:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2797/products_feature_guide09186a0080415bae.html#wp1787811

I did find this bit of info.

NME-16ES-1G-P-Standard single-wide Cisco EtherSwitch service module with 16 10/100-Mbps ports with Power over Ethernet (PoE), and 1 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet port.

Note The 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet port on the 16-port Cisco EtherSwitch service module does not support PoE.

Power is on and enabled. I do know that the gig port does not have POE.

Im having exactly the SAME issue with 'NME-XD-24ES-1S-P' and 'NME-XD-48ES-2S-P' on C3825. All phones that use Cisco prestandard (7940 and 7960) dont get power.

Phones that use IEEE 802.3af POE work fine.

Have you discovered what the problem is?

thanks a lot,

Met

Not yet. I am waiting for my contract # so I can get ahold of TAC.

CSCsi70300 Bug Details

NME Etherswitch Service Module Not Detecting Pre-Standard Devices

Symptom:

Pre-Standard POE devices are not powering up, link is down/down.

Conditions:

PreStd POE device must be connected to Etherswitch Service Module (ex. NME-16ES-1G-P) running 12.2(35)SE2.

Workaround:

Downgrade IOS to 12.2(25)SEE3

Further Problem Description:

Althought the NME runs 3750 IOS, the problem is not seen on a 3750 switch.

The IEEE 802.3af devices function fine (ex. 7961, 7941), only Pre-Std are affected

Thanks for the info. Any idea if 12.2(25)SEE3 supports 802.3af as well?
