Hello,

Has anybody experience with installation LMS 2.5.1 on solaris 10?

My problem is this error messages on the end of the application.

WARNING: Results not guaranteed if installed on this version.

WARNING: the syslog server is not listening on udp/514 for messages.

WARNING: now checking for an existing syslogd process...

WARNING: Exiting installation beyond this point might result in system instability.

WARNING: An error occurred while starting the TFTP server.

ERROR: missing file: /etc/rc2.d/S74syslog. Exiting.

ERROR: Daemon Manager could not start. Please check /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/dmgtd.log for any error.

ERROR: Unable to bind to port, please check port (42340) state and permissions.

ERROR: If the port is in use, please try starting Daemon Manager once it become free.

But netstat doesn't see occupied this port and no .pid files with this port aren't on the system.

Has anybody an idea what can I try to to?

Thanks

sarka

LMS 2.5.1 is not supported on Solaris 10. you will need to upgrade to LMS 3.0 to get Solaris 10 support. As for 2.5.1, you will need to install on Solaris 8 or Solaris 9.

thank you for reply

I have installed this system LMS2.5.1 on system solaris 8 and after installation I have tried to

start daemon /etc/init.d/dmgtd start and I have recieved this message:

ERROR: Daemon Manager could not start. Please check /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/dmgtd.lo g for any error.

ERROR: Unable to bind to port, please check port (42340) state and permissions.

ERROR: If the port is in use, please try starting Daemon Manager once it become free.

in log dmgtd.log are this messages:

Do you have any idea to solve it?

Thank you

Please post your daemons.log, and the output of netstat -a -n.

There is daemons.log

ld.so.1: dmgtd.sol: fatal: libACE.so.5.3.0: open failed: No such file or directory

ld.so.1: dmgtd.sol: fatal: libACE.so.5.3.0: open failed: No such file or directory

This points to bad installation. Does /opt/CSCOpx/lib/libACE.so.5.3.0 exist? It should be a symlink pointing to /opt/CSCOpx/lib/libACE.so.

Yes, this symlink is OK

There is the list:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 casuser casusers 25 Jan 22 12:01 libACE.so.5.3.0 -> /opt/CSCOpx/lib/libACE.so

Does libACE.so exist?

Yes, both files are there:

-rwxr-x--- 1 casuser casusers 2408704 Nov 23 2005 libACE.so

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 9 Jan 29 10:27 libACE.so.5.3.0 -> libACE.so

cicis # ./dmgtd start

ERROR: Daemon Manager could not start. Please check /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/dmgtd.log for any error.

ERROR: Unable to bind to port, please check port (42340) state and permissions.

ERROR: If the port is in use, please try starting Daemon Manager once it become free.

cicis # tail /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/dmgtd.log

Jan 24 00:46:22 cicworks postinstall[8949]: [ID 702911 local1.debug] TEST::INSTALL_MODE:NEW:syslog_facility:local1

There is daemons.log

ld.so.1: dmgtd.sol: fatal: libACE.so.5.3.0: open failed: No such file or directory

If the libraries exist, then LD_LIBRARY_PATH must not have been setup correctly which still points to a bad installation. Please post your Common Services installation log.

I send the value of requested variable and attach ciscoinstall.log. I have installed only Common Services by this time.

cicworks-sol8-new # echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH

:/opt/CSCOpx/objects/db/lib:/opt/CSCOpx/lib:/opt/CSCOpx/MDC/lib

Two things I notice are that this installation is not being done from local CD media, and prtconf is returning an error. How was the CD to disk copy performed? Is this installation happening within an LDOM or a solaris8 zone?

The copy of original software was done this way:

a contain of the original CD was packed by command "tar -cf" to dedicated directory on the disk. Than was this copy untar and executed the file setup.sh

The installation is performed in solaris8 zone.

solaris8 zone installations are not yet supported (no zone or LDOM installations are supported yet). You will need to install LMS the global zone, or the native OS.

Given that you already have Solaris 10, you should consider upgrading to LMS 3.0 which will make all of this much easier.
