NPE-300 7206VXR boot failure

Hi,

I am getting following error when I boot 7206VXR router with NPE-300 from rommon

*** Bus Error (Load) Exception ***

Access address = 0x826e5bc1

PC = 0x8000af3c, Cause Reg = 0x1c, Status Reg = 0x3040d003

monitor: command "boot" aborted due to exception

Please advice.

Try a different IOS image to start with, see if you can get anywhere with that. Might also be an issue with the boot media.

Hi,

You mean issue with flash ?

Could it be a problem with I/O controller ?

or could it be a problem with boot loader image. Only somtimes this error is dispalyed when booting from rommon. The booting is not booting with IOS image . No error message I am getting at that time. The booting stops and by break sequence I can enter rommon and boot with same IOS I have given in boot system command.

I've seen a problem very similar to that before and I think it's related to the flash disk, but I'm not 100% sure. If you have the time/ability I'd try either formatting and reloading the IOS onto the flash or trying a new disk just for testing.
