Can a 3750G really switch beween VLANs at line rate ? (1Gbps)

Hi,

According to the 3750G spec, it forwards at line rate !?!

So, does this product really forward/switch between VLANs at 1Gbps ?

That's awefully fast.

The port ASIC of the 3750 has an output capacity of 4.4 Gbps. The ASIC can be implemented in one of two ways:

24 ports of 10/100 + 2 Gig port can be assigned to a single port ASIC which would give 4.4 Gig. Or, 4 ports of 1 Gig can be assigned to a single port ASIC which would give 4.0 Gig; which

undersubscribes the ASIC.

However, I cannot find reference to this in the link, is it an actual soft configuration to implement ASIC usage in this way ?

The performance specifications of the 3750 series should not support line rate across all ports for some models (generally the 48 gig port models). See Table 2 "Performance" in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps5023/product_data_sheet0900aecd80371991.html. Note the 32 gig fabric limitation and the various Mpps ratings.
