Answered Question
Jan 23rd, 2008

Hi all,

I have just obtained my BCMSN and my company ask me to work on the CCVP.

I was just wondering how long my bcmsn will remain "active"

cause if for exemple I pass my ccvp, my ccna will be recertified for 3 years, which is the only condition for the bcmsn..

Any answer ?

thx.

I have this problem too.

Your BCMSN exam will be valid for 3 years. Below is the info from Cisco. So if that was your first test passed for the CCNP, you would have 3 years to pass the 3 remaining tests. Essentially it works out that all tests for a specific certification need to be passed within a 3 year span (if I am interpreting the info below correctly). Hope this helps.

Do certification exams expire?

* CCENT, Associate and Professional level 642 exams are valid for three years from the date the exam was passed. Specialist focused certification exams are valid for two years from the date the exam was passed.

* Placing expiration dates on exams ensures that candidates starting a multi-exam certification such as CCENT, CCNP, CCDP, CCVP, CCSP and CCIP, complete the program within a specified time-frame. By passing all of the required exams within the specified time period as noted above, candidates demonstrate that they are tested on current content. In situations where the period exceeds three years, candidates will need to re-take those exams that expire.

Hi,

Let me clear it for you:

You will be CCNP certified when you pass all 4 required exams. From then only the 3 years of certification validity will start.

Hi,

And about CCNA. I passed BSCI and it recertified my CCNA, BUT after that(3 month later) I passed BCMSN and it doesn't recertified CCNA.

Please explain to me the policy.

That should have recertifed your CCNA. According to Cisco, you need to complete one of the following to recertify a CCNA. BCMSN is a Professional level exam with a 642 prefix. Maybe the system hasn't caught up yet?

Complete one of the following recertification options:

* Pass the current certification exam

* Pass a current Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams)

* Pass any Professional level exam bearing a 642 prefix

* Advancing to the next level or recertifying at the Professional level automatically renews

* all related Associate level certifications

* Pass a current CCIE written exam

Once you have achieved the CCNP certification (by completing the last of the required tests), you have 3 years to recertify.

In terms of earning your CCNP, any individual test is valid towards earning your CCNP for 3 years after it was passed. So if you don't want to have to re-take any passed tests, you need to pass all tests within a 3 year period.

Hope that clears things up.
