7921s are "locating network services"

We recently deployed 130 7921s company-wide. About 10-15 of these 7921s get stuck at "locating network services". We've reset to factory settings and manually reconfigured, same end result.

We've discovered after trying several different batteries, device will eventually auto-register.

Also, the battery that doesn't work on the 10-15 7921s, work fine on other functional 7921s.

It's like certain 7921 batteries don't work on certain 7921s. Is there any known issue of this sort?

Should we just RMA these units for a warranty replacement?

Sometimes batteries don't work. If your phones work with batteries replaced , You could get the batteries replaced. Else replace the phone.

try to create a new profile and reset the phone

If stuck on "Locating Network Services" then can not find your network (configured ssid) for the configured 802.11 mode. If occuring on multiple phones, then must be a configuration issue and not hardware issue.

For the battery issue, is it standard or extended battery?

The odd thing about the 7921 issue is device will register and appear to look and work fine, then revert to locating network services, then repeats cycle. Seems like after sitting idle (on or off the charger)or like after phone warms up, it reverts to locating network services. At that time there is no radio signal and CCM shows device as not registered.

Have reset devices to factory default setting and reconfigured, but same end result.

We have about 15 7921's with this issue and do not use them since they're not fully functional.

We use standard batteries.

Must be losing the BSS then.

Are you using 2.4 or 5 GHz? Recommend 5 GHz when possible.

What is the firmware version of the 7921? Recommend 1.2(1).

What is the AP type and version?

We are using:

· 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz integrated

· Firmware version 1.1(1)

· A Symbol AP (AP300)

What would cause these 15 units to lose the BSS? We've deployed 200+ units and they all work fine.

Symbol AP is not a supported platform. If the beacon does not come at the correct time, then the client can miss it and deem BSS loss. Also if sending data frames, the AP must ACK those frams as well. If not the client can claim BSS loss. You may want to check with Symbol. I know there were some udpates also in regards to supporting power save clients. The 7921G should use PS-POLL there as I don't think that AP supports U-APSD or WMM.
