Uploading a new Phone Load - CUCM 6

Hello

CUCM 6.0(1a)

Where does one go about uploading a new phone load into the communications manager?

I see the readme states to use the BAT, but I can't seem to find how. It's asking for a csv file, so I know I must be in the wrong place.

Can someone please assist me?

Hi Scott,

You are right, BAT should not be involved here at all. Here is a clip that refers to loading new 7931G Firmware on a 6.x box. The method will be the same for other Phone model/Firmware combinations;

Cisco IP Unified Phone Model 7931G Installation Instructions

Perform the following procedure:

Click the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-7900ser

Download the file that is listed in Table 3 to your hard drive.

When using Cisco Unified CallManager Release 6.0 or later

For Cisco Unified CallManager 6.0, you must do all software installations and upgrades by using the Software Upgrades menu options. The system can upload and process only software that Cisco Systems approved. You cannot install or use third-party or Windows-based software applications that you may have been using with a previous version of Cisco Unified CallManager with Cisco Unified CallManager 6.0.

Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page

Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Install/Upgrade.

Fill in the appropriate values in the Software Location section for the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

In the Available Software drop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

After validating the MD5 has the correct value, click Next.

In the Warning box, verify you have selected the correct firmware, then click Install.

Check that you received a Success message.

Or,

Cisco IP Unified Phone Model 7931G Alternate Firmware format

The Cisco IP Unified Phone Model 7931G Firmware version 8.3(3)SR2 is also supplied in a zip file, as an alternative in case a Cisco Unified CallManager is not available to run the executable installer program. The name of this file is cmterm-7931-sccp.8-3-3SR2.zip.

After unzipping the firmware files, they should be manually copied to the appropriate directory on the TFTP server.

Hope this helps!

Rob

Thank you Rob, but this is the part I can't get to: "Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page "

I've tried http://serverIP/iptplatform and http://serverIP:8080/iptplatform and that doesn't do anything for me.

Do I have the wrong address?

This is what I see when I put in those addresses:

HTTP Status 404 - /iptplatform

type status report

message /iptplatform

description - The requested resource (/iptplatform) is not available

Hi Scott,

Can you try;

https://server-name/cmplatform

where server-name is the host name or IP address of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager server.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/cucos/6_0_1/cucos/iptpch2.html

Hope this helps!

Hi Scott,

Rob

hey Rob, that takes me to the OS Admin page, which is indeed where I need to upload the phone loads. However, the readme files with the phone loads must not reflect exactly how it's done on 6.x, cause the instructions don't match up.

The TFTP Management section is what handles the phone loads, ring tones, yada yada.

Now however, I'm tyring to figure out how 6.x processes the cop.sgn files. That's the only format that I can download for 7940/7960 sccp. The readme says it'll prompt for "install" after uploading and verifing the hash, mine sure doesn't. It's like all the readme's on that download page reflect how it's done in 5.x, even the ones that say "6.0" don't seem to be accurate. The items it says to click on aren't exactly the same, like rather that "Installs/Upgrades" I have to use the "TFTP Management" - maybe I'm missing something here. But I know for sure this 6.0(1a) is different from what the readme says.
