we have 3560 L3 switch & several 3500 L2 switches.But i want to disable inter vlan communication while maintaining the communication with 3560 and my router also.

Hi,
If you want disable intervlan routing you must use "no ip routing".

If the no ip routing command is used then i am afraid that the 3560 will become an L2 switch and no routing will be done.
Removing default gateway on 3500 will also cause some problems as we dont know exact topology and config.
If you just want to disable intervlan routing but want to reach internet then try using ACLS.

You'll have to use some form of access list somewhere. Once the packet hits a router its going to go where its going to go unless you do something to stop it.
