This global Cisco.com username and password was never used in 2.6, so it was removed in 3.0. The reason for this is security. Creating a global Cisco.com account potentially allows one to download images (e.g. crypto images) as someone else. Then those images could be illegally exported.

Now, each app or component that requires Cisco.com access will request it. Both IE and Firefox can cache this information on the client side, so that repeated re-entry is usually not needed.
