Hi All

I have a Cat 4503 running CatOS. I have just checked the website and know that supervisor card WS-X4013 is now EoL for Cat 4000.

Is it EoL also for Cat 4503?

1 1 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-X4013 no ok

2 2 48 10/100/1000 Ethernet WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 no ok

3 3 48 10/100/1000 Ethernet WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 no ok

Hi

The supervisor engine is EOL independant of which chassis it is in.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps663/ps668/prod_end-of-life_notice09186a0080225602.html

Hope this helps

Martin

Is this really correct.

Looking at this link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps2797/ps5347/product_data_sheet09186a0080197424_ps4324_Products_Data_Sheet.html

shows that Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Supervisor Engine II-Plus

(WS-X4013+) is still very much alive.

Please help.

But you stated in your original post that your enquiry regarded the WS-X4013 SUP 2. These went EOS May 2005

Regards

Martin

Thanks Martin

It shows on my show mod

1 1 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-X4013

Is this the same as WS-X4013 SUP 2. This is really confusing as I need to be sure I am not saying a device is EoL when it is not.

So what I have is a Cat 4503 with

Mod Slot Ports Module-Type Model Sub Status

--- ---- ----- ------------------------- ------------------- --- --------

1 1 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-X4013 no ok

2 2 48 10/100/1000 Ethernet WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 no ok

3 3 48 10/100/1000 Ethernet WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 no ok

Is the

1 1 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-X4013 end of life?

Thank for your help.

Hi Friend,

WS-X4013 is SUP 2 and WS-X4013+ is SUP2 Plus.

WS-X4013 only supports CATOS and is now EOL but SUP2+ supports IOS and is still supported on 4500 chassis.

What you have is SUP2 which is EOL.

Yes, WS-X4013 is EOL/EOS and no longer available. You can replace that with the SUP2+, Sup2+10GE, Sup4/Sup5/Sup5+10GE.

FWIW, this is what a sh module looks like for a Sup II+ 4503

Chassis Type : WS-C4503

Power consumed by backplane : 0 Watts

Mod Ports Card Type Model Serial No.

---+-----+--------------------------------------+------------------+-----------

1 2 Supervisor II+ 1000BaseX (GBIC) WS-X4013+ JAE00000000

2 48 10/100/1000BaseT (RJ45)V, Cisco/IEEE WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V JAE00000000

3 48 10/100/1000BaseT (RJ45)V, Cisco/IEEE WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V JAE00000000

This is what I get on the show module on another Cat 4503 running IOS. Is this Sup or Sup II and is this EoL? It does not explicitly say Supervisor II+ like yours says.

Thanks

Mod Ports Card Type Model Serial No.

---+-----+--------------------------------------+------------------+-----------

1 2 1000BaseX (GBIC) Supervisor(active) WS-X4013+ JAE07350945

2 48 10/100/1000BaseTX (RJ45) WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 JAB080908KP

But it does say WS-X4013+ which is Sup2+. The SUP2 only runs CAT OS, wo the fact that you are running IOS is another indication you have a SUP2+ in that chassis.

Martin

Thank you. Now I can be sure of what I am saying. Thank ou very much
