We have a Cat 4503 which has a supervisor card which is now EoL and running CatOS. We are thinking of replacing the card with a Sup II+ which is Cisco IOS.
What will this entail? Is there documentation to support this?
The Cat 4503 has a 64M DRAM, 6.1(5) ROMMON, 16M Flash and 2 power supplies.
Will this be okay to do a direct swap to a Sup 2+ without any hardware upgrade?
Please help.
Thanks

Hi Friend,
As you mentioned you have 4503 with 64 MB DRAM but this statement is bit wrong because 450 is a chassis and it does not have any memory in itself.
It is sup which is having DRAM and FLASH. So as you mentioned you are upgrading to SUP2+ it is very well supported in 4503 chassis and you can simpl insert the sup in the chassis.

Now when you insert the line card we have to see if the image running on your sup which is sup2+ supports the line card that you have or not.

Get the part numbers of your line cards and cross reference them against the release notes for the current IOS release:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/release/note/OL_5184.html#wp16938
As you mentioned the SUP II+ is an IOS sup and you'll need to convert your CATOS config to IOS:
