Intermittent connectivity problem for VPN clients to PIX 501/506E

Hi,

We have a number of customers who have PIX 501/506E with VPN clients ranging from two to about ten for each customer. Clients have VPN Client version 4.8.0.1.0300 or version 5.0.02.0090 running on Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Recently some of these VPN clients experience intermittent VPN connectivity problem. Most times I reboot the PIX when this problem occurs. Clients were able to connect at times but at other times rebooting the PIX does not solve the problem. Clients had to reboot their Laptops at times before they could connect. Any ideas on what could be responsible for this type of problem?

Best regards.

Check PIX cpu and memory usage to make sure it is not getting overloaded and dropping traffic. This issue also comes when vpn clients are not properly uninstalled before reinstalling them. Use the uninstaller to uninstall and then reinstall vpn clients.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. The CPU and Memory usage is OK (not higher than a regular day usage).

I simply restarted the PC a couple of times and that resolved the problem.
