HELP NEEDED to solve a question

I am going to sit for CCNA 640-802 very soon. So I am trying to solve all CCNA Practice Questions from Cisco's Learning and Assessment Team(CCNA Prep Center).

So please help me to solve a question from this site.

27. Which two of these addresses are private IP addresses? (Choose two.)

i), ii), iii), iv)

according to-

ii) & iii) are correct answer.

But we know-

Class A- through

Class B- through

Class C- through

are private addresses.

Please send your suggestion.

You are indeed correct. This is obviously a misprint on the web page.

Although you could argue that is indeed a private IP range, as it is reserved for host loopback addresses (RFC 3330).

**** Taken from RFC 3330 **** - This block is assigned for use as the Internet host loopback address. A datagram sent by a higher level protocol to an

address anywhere within this block should loop back inside the host. This is ordinarily

implemented using only for loopback, but no addresses within this block

should ever appear on any network anywhere [RFC1700, page 5].

When questions are asked about "private" IP addresses, it is normally understood to mean private IP addresses as per RFC 1918, which as you correctly listed in your post are

So if I were answering that question, I would pick answers 1 & 3.

Answer 2 is an address in the loopback range and answer 4 is an address in the multicast range.
