Hi, Preparing for CCNA. During lab I noted that..

R1=S0= DTE with HDLC Encap..link up/up

R2=S0= DCE

with HDLC Encap..link up/up

Now I changed Encapsulation to PPP on both sides...the I issued the ip route command on R2, that displayed

--> is variably subnetted, 2subnets 2masks

C is directly connected, serial 0

C is directly connected, serial 0

No ip protocol is running. The question is with HDLC ,sh ip route only reports about the C and when I switch it to PPP it reportts to above table with the addition on next hope ip address Please explain. Regards.

I have this problem too.

The Cisco IOS software automatically creates neighbor routes by default; that is, it automatically sets up a route to the peer address on a point-to-point interface when the PPP IPCP negotiation is completed.

To disable this default behavior or to reenable it once it has been disabled, use the following commands in interface configuration mode:

no peer neighbor-route Disable creation of neighbor routes.

peer neighbor-route Reenable creation of neighbor routes.
