Enabling Netflow

Hello,

We would like to enable netflow on our switches.

Currently we have :-

- Cisco 6500 Version 12.2(18)SXF running Sup 720.

- Cisco 3750 Version 12.2(25)SED1

1. Is the netflow on the Cisco 6500 in build into the hardware and is this likely to cause performance issues ?

2. I believe netflow is not supported on the 3750 switches. What switch do we need to move to enable netflow ?

1. I believe it's in software and it depends on the number of flows.

2. I believe the only other enterprise switch is the 4500 w/ Sup IV or V and you will need the Netflow Services card as well.

1. 6500

performance impact

according Cisco:

" NetFlow capitalizes on the flow nature of network traffic to provide detailed traffic accounting information with

minimal impact on router or switch performance"

2. Unfortunately, for the 3750, neither the EMI or SMI image supports

netflow.

Hope that helps rate if it does
