We are behind a PIX 506E firewall and am wondering what change needs to be made so that we can access our external IP address while we are internal. Both sites are operational when typing in the internal ip address (when internal) and the external ip (when external).
I believe this is the firewall preventing users from going outside the network then back in.
Any advice would be appreciated!

you can only do this with alias via DNS
doctoring and it requires DNS server
If you use a checkpoint firewall, what you
described can easily be done.

thanks cisco 24x7.
The DNS host entry doed need to be created. the problem we were experiencing with not being able to access the external sites internal was resolved by editing our hosts file.
thank you for your suggestion!!!

Hi Brianlick,
Can you please show me how you edited the hosts file.
I am having a similar problem with live Servers not IIS. I would like to know how you have done it with the hosts file and how if possible it can be done from the DNS server.
Because editing the hosts file will happen on all user PC's right?
But if DNS server could solve this problem then it will be centralized.
Thanks in advance.
