What would be required if we want to setup a separate TFTP server for the IP phones and not use the CCM
We need a setup where the phone actually registers to UK but want the tftp server to be locally present in India

Any cisco router or L3 switch can be used as TFTP server for the purpose.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Yes, if you want. But it is easier if you keep them on the central CM site.

Sorry my voice skills are a bit rusty
The reason we want to set it this way is whenever a new phone is configured, it takes more than 30-45 mins before it downloads all the required files. We thought placing these files locally will help speed up this process
Will it work if i just use a normal tftp server and place the phone loads in the default directory
If i still place the files on the central CM site and forward my requests to the local tftp server, how will it redirect to the Central CM site

Hi,
Yes placing the files locally will speed up things. Any TFTP server can do the job. You have to study the boot process to note and copy the necessary files. Once the phone is initialized you can place it on the production network to register.
You cannot have the central CM site to forward to another TFTP server.
