Reserving Bandwidth for certain IP range

Hi,

I have two 6509 switches located in two different offices(connected through 40Mbps pipe). And i have to reserve bandwidth of 2Mbps for certain IP range between these offices. how do i accomplish this.

Hi

It does depend on your supervisor and PFC level but if you have a PFC3 card then the 6500 provides something called User Based Rate Limiting. See attached link for more details

thanks for the information. the actual requirement is to reserve 2mbps bandwidth for the data between Servers located in the locations. can i achieve this using user based rate limiting.

User based rate limiting is a bit of a misleading term actually as it is based on source and/or destination IP address so yes this should fit your requirements.
