TL ports in a core-edge topology

Hi all,

I've a customer that migrate from single switch to 2 in core-edge design.

We have W2K3 that are connected to EMC DL.

Those Disk libraries are connected to a 9509 with TL ports. When we put those ports to the other switch, also 9509 (16 ports blades) we cannot see Tape devices from the W2K3 host. Even at HBA Bios level.

Target and initator are seen on the new switch with show tlport interface fcxx/xx all command exactly as the other one.

Is it possible that TL ports cannot be addressed when going thru ISL ?

TL ports may be connected to one or more private loop devices. Check if the setup you are using is supported in TL ports. Refer URL http://cisco.com/en/US/docs/storage/san_switches/mds9000/sw/rel_2_x/fm/configuration/guide/intf.html#wp1124695 for general guidelines.

First thing I would look at is the zoning. Since the TL port changed, most likely the item you were zoning on changed as well.

Be aware that TL is not supported in generation2 hardware.
