hi,
how can i check the utilization/bandwidth on a particular port ?

For a router only method, change the load-interval for the port you want to look at to 30 seconds (the lowest setting):
int fa 0/0
load-interval 30
then look at the interface:
show int fa 1/0
and look at the in and out bit rate
30 second input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
30 second output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
Unfortunatly, AFAIK, there is nothing like show proc cpu history for interface on the router itself.
If you want graphs and historical monitoring, go look at cacti or jffnms, both can discover and monitor most routers and switches right out of the box and both are freely available.

For a quick easy to look at display for the 5 minute average use the "show interface summary" command. For fixed configuration switches use the "show controllers utilization" command.
