I was under the impression that the intercom feature in CM 6 is hoot and holler broadcast to a group of phones, not point-to-point. Is there a way for CM 6 to do hoot and holler or do I need a separate product?

Communications Manager does not support one-to-many audio broadcasts. You will need to use a third party application to do that.
