Thanks everyone...

It depends how many circuits would your provider allow you to have on the contracted line.

Providers have the obligation to deliver the contracted bandwidth per circuit.

For instance, you have a T1 if you've purchased 24 circuits for remote locations, the provider would guarantee 64kbps CIR for each circuit (if you break it evenly). You are then allowed to configured 24 subinterface under the main serial interface. The router should be able to support it, though the model you have is very old and you may be running an unsupported IOS.

How many circuits do you have in mind?

Edison.

Thanks for replying Edison, all I want to know is how many PVCs could I configure on a single serial interface for a 1600 or 2600 series router, if you have that information it will help me a lot.

Ragards,

In theory, 1008. In practice, the considerations made by Edison, and perhaps some more, do apply.

Please consult your cisco sales office or qualified reseller if you are going to do a frame-relay design and have never done one before.
