Nortel WAP compatibility

We are currently using a Nortel 2270 (going to end-of-life) along with Nortel Baystack PoE switches and Nortel 2230 WAP's.

Cisco has since bought out Nortel AiroNet. What I am trying to inquire about is:

-Are the Nortel 2230 WAP's compatible with a Cisco 4402 and a 3560 PoE?

I currently have a couple of Cisco Aironet 1131AG WAP's that are working with the Nortel 2270, so I am guessing that if the Cisco WAP's (along with a 3560 PoE) work with the Nortel 2270 WLAN Controller, then the Nortel WAP's would work with the Cisco 4402 WLAN Controller.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

TIA

Hi Kevin,

Looks like you should be good to go!

Apply power to the AP:

- Use 802.3af-compliant Power Over Ethernet (PoE) from an orderable inline power injector or other network

device.

Quick Install Guide

http://www116.nortel.com/docs/bvdoc/wlan/216394-A.pdf

The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series offers new 48- and 24-port Fast Ethernet switches that comply with IEEE 802.3af and Cisco pre-standard PoE. In addition, Cisco is introducing the Catalyst 3560 Series, a new line of 48- and 24-port Fast Ethernet switches that support both the new industry standard and the Cisco standard. The Catalyst 3550-24 PWR switch continues to support Cisco pre-standard PoE. All 24-port configurations support 24 simultaneous full powered PoE ports at 15.4 Watts for maximum powered device support. The 48-port configurations support 24 ports at 15.4 Watts, 48 ports at 7.7 Watts, or any combination in-between.

Here is a good reference from Brad regarding the Nortel 2230 with a Cisco WLC 4400;

Hope this helps!

Thanks Rob,

One comment, I was reading that link about the Nortel 2230's and the last comment said there was an issue with DNS lookup, which seemed pretty vague...
