DFM false alerts

Hi,

I have a LMS 2.6 which manages more than 150 devices. Out of these devices, I am getting falseve-mails from DFM for only two devices. The alarms are as follows.

ALERT ID = 00003S1

TIME = Mon 04-Feb-2008 09:27:32 AST

STATUS = Active

SEVERITY = Critical

MANAGED OBJECT = xxxxx

MANAGED OBJECT TYPE = Switches and Hubs

EVENT DESCRIPTION = x.x.x.x: Cisco Configuration Management

Trap:InformAlarm; x.x.x.x:Duplicate; CUSTOMER IDENTIFICATION = xxx

CUSTOMER REVISION = 3

ALERT ID = 00003P8

TIME = Mon 04-Feb-2008 10:03:24 AST

STATUS = Active

SEVERITY = Critical

MANAGED OBJECT = xxxxx

MANAGED OBJECT TYPE = Switches and Hubs

EVENT DESCRIPTION = x.x.x.x: Cisco Configuration Management

Trap:InformAlarm; x.x.x.x:Unresponsive; CUSTOMER IDENTIFICATION = xxx

CUSTOMER REVISION = 3

But there is no duplicate IP, because it is only a point to point IP and the device is also reachable.

IS there any way of getting rid of these false alerts?

Thanks

Sathappan

Hello Sathappan,

When talking about duplicated IP address, that can be not on the same subnet but in whole network ? I'm not sure, but that's a suggestion.

And for the Unresponsive, that can only due to timeout!

Hope that can give you ideas to solve your problem.
