Hi Stephen

The best software product you can get for the BSCI studies is Dynamips/Dynagen, see

This software emulates Cisco router Hardware and runs on Windows or Linux/Unix platforms. The only drawback is that you need to be able to get your hands on teh relevant IOS versions.

Dynamips will emulate 7200, 3700, 3600 and 2600 routers adn as it runs real IOS, all the commands you will require will be available to you.

Also note that Dynamips does not emulate Cisco Catalyst switches, which is not really a big deal for the BSCI. However you can get around this by adding virtual NM-16ESW modules (16 port layer 2 switching modules) into a virtual 3620 routers and using these are you L2 switches. Also note that the NM-16ESW is only supported in the 3620 virtual router.

Other than this and this is just my opinion, you are on the path to frustration with the majority of the Simulators on the market and I have tried most of them.

Best Regards and hope this helps,
