Hi,
when a user is hitting a VIP, will the user be able to see the hostname of the real servers.
If the user is hitting www.xyz.com and it is doing the loadbalancing between two real servers will the user be able to see the hostnames of real servers. IS there a method to mask the hostnames of realservers to the users.
with thanks

Hi,
The user will not able to see the hostname by hitting the VIP. Unless the server responds with specific server information. Sessions connected to the loadbalanced servers are initiated by the ACE. Client to ACE connections are terminated on the ACE. ACE will reply to the client with ACE VIP address, not real server ip address.
However, if you load balanced SSH/telnet traffic, after login to the server, one can run system command to obtain this information directly from the server.

This is true for all Cisco loadbalancers including ACE,CSM,CSS.
The client is normally not aware that it is being loadbalanced to multiple servers except if your server are incorrectly setup to provide information about their real name or real ip.
Avoid hard-links that would redirect the client to the server ip.
Gilles.
