Dear Friends. Can you tell why we use Direct inward dial command. Give me the sitation why use it, when to use with detail explanation.

Hi,
Without it, the router gives a dialtone to the caller, this is called two stage dialing and is usually not wanted.
With it, the router extract the called number and give the call to the final destination, that is called one stage dialing.

If it is two stage dialing, what we have to do if the router gives a dialtone. we have to enter any number after we get the dial tone from router? pls explain.
