We have a 6509 that connects to our WAN providers switch which is connected over fiber. We had an issue today that one port that goes to one of our sites was showing 9mb of data being transmitted. The router at the remote site was not showing the same traffic. Other sites and servers on this core seemed to have issues caused by it. There were high ping times to the sites and server on the core. The other core 6509 was fine. We have redunant cores and sites and servers on it wer not seeing the same issue. If I turned down the affected port and thus all traffic going to the site pings times to everything else returned to normal until I enabled the port again. The only difference I saw between this port and other similar ports for out other WAN sites using the same vendor was that trunking(dot1q) was enabled. I turned off trunking and things returned to normal. Anybody have an explaination and why wouldn't we see this issue before today?
I have this problem too.
