we are using cisco catalsyt and have mangement interface configured on it with all ports in VLan 1 (default Vlan)
IP assigned to management interface is say for example
int vlan 1
ip addr 172.16.20.253 255.255.255.128
the PCs attached to this switch have IP range as 172.16.20.1 to 172.16.20.252 with gateway as 172.16.20.254 and subnet mask as 255.255.255.128 on all PC's.
the Router interface towards LAN (ie switch ) has ip as 172.16.20.254 255.255.255.128
all remaining same , if i change the subnet mask assigned to management vlan from 255.255.255.128(/25) to 255.255.255.252 (/30), will it have any impact on the functioning of PCs . if no impact , then what is the purpose of assigning IP and netmask to interface Vlan 1 apart from management (eg telnet etc) purpose
