challenging switching design

Dear all

nowadays it is common to find companies that require a multitenant infrasstructure where they can lease the network and services for subcompanies .

ex:company A is composed of 5 floors .and needs to lease each floor for subcompanies. this might look simple to have and implement if they are all sharing same services ( call manager , exchange ,servers).

what if one of the subcompanies requires to use the main infrastructure however they need to add more switches for their own use and they need to add their servers in their IDF .

what is the appropriate solution to use .i know one solution is to configure MPLS ,but again MPLS is expensive to have cause we would require enhanced IOS .

is there any other workaorund

i would appreciate the help

thank you

Hi

As you say MPLS is one alternative. VRF-lite is another which supports separate routing tables within the same devide and is supported on some of the lower end switches. There are others.

Have a look at this link which covers exactly what you are looking for ie. virtualising networks within a campus.
