Hi There
Is it possible to ping a router interface that is correctly setup but does not have anything connected to it? For instance I can ping the router from my pc but am wondering if I can ping a secondary port on the router that is properly configured but is not patched.
thanks

No, the interface must be up/up and the only way the interface is up/up is by connecting it to another device.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you can ping an interface that is down on a router as long as proxy arp is enabled on the interface that receives the arp request.
Not that this is very likely to be the case, but still....
