Recertify CCIP with 642-661 (BGP)?

Unanswered Question
Feb 10th, 2008

Hi All,

This is my first post here. I've got a CCIP which is due to expire soon, and I was wondering...can I just take the 642-661 BGP exam to recertify my CCIP? The rules state that ANY 642 level exam will recertify the CCIP, but I was wondering if that includes the BGP exam since I passed that one 3 years ago?

I have this problem too.

Hello,

As long as it's the current exam stated, any 642-XXX exam should recertify your CCIP.

Hello cfritzk1,

Yes, 642-661 BGP will re certify your CCIP. You may take any 642 exam that is a part of any professional level certification to re certify your CCIP as long as this is done prior to it expiring.

Thanks for your response.

I did just that....this past Saturday. Took my BGP exam, and despite a simulation question that caused the computer to lock up completely three times (requiring the administrator to reboot it each time), I finally skipped the question and still passed. I checked the Cisco Certification Tracking tool yesterday and it shows me as recertified.

thanks,

Colin
