Connecting E1 G.703/G.704 120-OHM to Black Box G.703 to Ethernet Bridge

Hi all,

This problem has been bugging me for the last few days. I cannot seem to get the physical layer up for the connection between the DB-15 presentation on the E1 card on my 7206VXR and my BlackBox G.703 converter on RJ-48C.

I have tried various pinouts and am now losing my rag with it. I can get my line working on an 8-port port adapter card but not this card.

The following is my config on the serial interface:

interface serial 1/0

encapsulation ppp

clock source internal

timeslot 0-0

If anyone could suggest anything I would be eternally grateful.

Kind regards,

Chris

Hi, please send show controllers e1 when connected via the cable pinout you trust better.

Hi, you should be able to enter "show controllers E1 1/0", don't you ?

Uh, no unfortunately.

The card has implicit controllers in the serial interfaces so you can only run "show controller serial x/y". I can do a "show controller e1" but will not take any other input and when I commit that command it comes back empty.

Just to confirm, the card in question is a 4-port E1 G.703/G.704 120 OHM

Card = PA-4E1G-120

Yes, I do realize now which card you have.

The show controller is telling it has loss of signal, unfortunately short of asking how you wired the cable, there's nothing I can suggest.

Out of interest, when I flick on the local loop switch on the BlackBox converter the line comes up.
