hi all, i'm sitting for the CIPT exam and when i review my course i'm stuck in something regarding Region, well let expose my question:
For different region (in different CM cluste) when we use different codecs, what is the default codec that it will be used or just it will be transcoding example:
Paris 's region ==> codec G711 to dial Lyon
and Lyon's region==> codec G729 to dial Paris
so there would be transcoding when a call from Paris is destinated to Lyon or it would use G711 codec!!
You would only need to transcode if you were trying to access something from Lyon at Paris that required the G.711 Codec.
For example, MeetMe Conferencing only supports G.711. So if you were dialling a MeetMe number from Lyon you would need to make sure that sufficient resources were available to transcode the G.729 Call to G.711. This resource must be available in the MRGL assigned to the device.
In your example with Paris and Leon.
A call from Paris to Lyon would be completed at G.711 (depending on available bandwidth).
A call from Lyon to Paris would be completed at G.729 (depending on available bandwidth).
The amount of available bandwidth at each site is configured in the Location.
No transcoding would take place.
Hope this helps, if so please rate
