Converting from VTP client/server to transparent

I am attempting to convert from VTP Client/server to transparent.

VTP pruning is enabled in the domain.

Most of my switches are already transparent. When I attempt to configure my remaining switches that are clients to transparent we loose connectivity to the switches. The only thing I can think of is pruning is still enables on the domain.

Thanks for the help.

When changing from client/server model to transparent, you are moving the switches away from any 'domain' so vtp pruning is not going to affect these switches unless you are manually pruning at the inter-switch links.

You mentioned they are clients, why don't you change them to servers, ensure the vlan information is stored on their database and then change them to transparent.

Hi Edison

Can I please ask what the thought process is in terms of migrating to 'server' vtp mode before going to client.

Personally I would like to understand why OPs network suffered an outage when transistioning.

thanks in advance
