[RTMT-ALERT] CriticalServiceDown

Hi experts,

We received this notification from RTMT:

Cisco At 10:21:14 on 02/09/2008 on node x.x.x.x.

Service status is DOWN .

The following service(s) are down: Cisco Serviceability Reporter.

Also all of our registered gateways and Media devices were affected.

Can someone tell me what it(CSR) does and why it affects all our registered gateways/media devices. Tried the net but it only tells that it's related to reporting. (pretty obvious!).

tnx

Hi Robert,

You are most welcome :) This could be Gateways as well if they are registered to the first node.

Serviceability Reporter Service Parameters

Cisco Serviceability Reporter uses the following three ***service parameters:

•RTMT Reporter Designated Node-Specifies the designated node on which RTMT Reporter runs. Because the Serviceability Reporter service is CPU intensive, Cisco recommends that you specify a non-call processing node. This default equals the IP address of the server on which the RTMT Reporter service is first activated.

•Report Generation Time-The number of minutes after midnight. Reports generate at this time for the most recent day. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 1439.

•Report Deletion Age-The number of days that the report must be kept in the disk. The system deletes reports that are older than the specified age. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 30.

Hope this helps!

Hi Robert,

Here is a link to what this service does. As you noted, this is basically a Reporting service. My guess is that this is an indicator that the 1st node may have been down @ 10:21:14 for a few moments. That would be why other devices were effected. There is no reason that this service should impact the Gateways etc.

Hope this helps!

Also can you pls. help where could I see the Report Generation Time & Report Deletion Age of the CM.

Tnx
