Hello,
I'm new to Cisco voice.
I have a UC520 2xBRI (seperate lines with 2 blocks of 4 numbers).
Can someone give me the basic steps
to get BRI working?
I only need a simple setup.
Number forward to hunt group for general use (office number) and direct forwaring to specific telephones.
I see the line light up on call but I do not understand how to handle incoming calls.
Kind regards
Vincent

Sure. Let's assume you do not use any digit as access for external calls (thing that sually users like very much ebcuae it's like calling from home:
dial-peer voice 58 pots
desc international
destination-pattern 001.....T
prefix 001
trunkgroup bri
dial-peer voice xxx pots
desc cellphones
destination-pattern 06........
trunkgroup bri
dial-peer voice xxx pots
desc national
destination-pattern 0[1-9]........
prefix 0
trunkgroup bri
dial-peer voice xxx pots
desc emergency
destinaion-pattern 112
prefix 112
trunkgroup bri
Then you can remove the ununsed DPs.

Add a translation-profile to the trunk group, for incoming, and recall teh following rule against calling number:
voice translation-rule 300
rule 1 // /0/ type national national
rule 2 // /00/ type international international

One way is dialplan-pattern under telephony service. But since you just have eight numbers, it may not be worth that.
So I suggest trunk-group and translation-profiles. xxxx below is the called number, check it with "debug isdn 1931" and "term mon". eee is the phone extension of ephone-hunt pilot.
It looks complicated, once you get sounde of it, it's very flexible.
int bri 0/0/0
trunk-group bri
int bri 0/0/1
trunk-group bri
trunk group bri
translation-profile incoming makedid
voice translation-profile makedid
translate called 100
voice translation-rule 100
rule 1 /xxxx/ /eee/
rune 2 ...

Hi,
I must have had my brain switched off when answering above.
There is a much simpler way. Assign the phone number, as received from telco, as secondary under ephone-dn. Same for ephone-hunt.

Thank you, I understand your message, but
I have trouble setting up the dial-plan (I think). The configuration assistant gives an USA dial plan while I need to configure an Dutch dial plan.
I think this is te reason things are not working. I can not find however a proper example of a Dutch dial plan config..?

I've found this site, but do not know how to implement this.

Hi, forget dialplan pattern. Just set the secondary numbers, and all will work fine.
Next issue, is what number do you want to be seen by a called person when you call out ?
caln you call out at all ?

Thanks again, I can not call inbound or outbound. Number unreachable when calling. I do see however light up BRI lights on the UC520. (I'm newbie to Cisco voice, sorry)
I'm using the default factory config right now, no modifications except for the secondary number as explained.

Hi, which exact IOS are you using? Do you have access to downloads to upgrade to 12.4(11)XW5 if that is not what you have already ?
02-15-2008 08:50 AM
I'm stuck now, I used the ZIP file to upgrade to XW5 which the config assistent told me was successfull.
After te reload the device is dead. I can only use the console cable. IP traffic (switch) isn't working anymore?

You may have got interfaces in shutdown. send config.

Oh, one of these sdm configurations. What is not working, do the phones register? Can you ping something ?
02-17-2008 06:49 AM
Hello again,
It's a cisco config assistant factory default config indeed.
The phones register, and all internal call functions are working.
I've upgraded to XW6 (latest). However, no luck. KPN the telco tells te calling party, number not in use.
ISDN debug shows the message: followingUnallocated/unassigned number

Hello again,
Incoming calls are working now.
After configuring the correct DID translation.
Last but not least, can you tell how to set the number seen by a called person when I call out?
Kind regards,
