Right Internet facing ethernet router

Currently I've got a cable modem connected to my firewall. The firewall is configured to drop traffic from subnets in Asia, China, etc.

I'd like to put a router in front of the firewall where the only job is to route everything but a blacklist. That will decrease load on my firewall overall, and add an additional layer.

What is the right Cisco device for this? When I look at the 1800 series they seem intended for WAN traffic, but as far as my local connection is concerned, it's ethernet <> ethernet. Mostly I need the ability to hold like 300k of routing entries.

While routes require memory, so even a 2801 can hold the amount of routes you require, they might not provide the needed throughput. For routing table and 10Mbps i'd go with 2801 - 2821. But if you require more, go with something better. For ethernet 7201 is very good since it's G2 and still cheap compared to the actual G2 in 7206

You can get by with a 2600.

Check on ebay they are really cheap now.

Just make sure you get the right cards for your set-up as well as enough memory.
