Is this Aironet 1100 dead?

Hi,

I'm trying to help some friends and they have an Aironet 1100. They don't know if it's any good or just dead. I cannot access it via the ethernet cable/web browser interface. It only has the power connector and ethernet cable to attach to it.

I've reset it with the Mode button, but I get the top LED flashing green, the middle LED flashing light red, the bottom LED flashing green. What is the easiest way to see if this unit is even alive? Any help would be appreciated as I'm not familiar with these.

here are two links that should help you connect to the AP. As it is in probably a unknown state I reccomend that you hold down he mode button and apply power to reset the AP to defaults.

the User and Password at that point should be Cisco/Cisco Case sensative.

You may need to use the IP Setup utility to discover the IP address if the default adress does not work IE DHCP assigned an address.

Hi Bill,

Thanks very much for the info. I'll go look and see what's what and report back. My concern is in the LEDs that I'm seeing. The center one never gets off of red....I'll let you know what I find after looking at your links. Thanks again.

two additional thoughts your AP may be an Lightweight AP AIR-LAP11xx-x-x or converted to one.

I'm pretty new to Aironets, so here are the numbers on the label:

AIR-AP1121G-A-K9

s/n FTX1010VORC

Does any of that mean anything specific to you all?

THe part number indicates it is an autonomous AP which means you shouid be able manage it through the WEB/GUI interface. First you need to determine wat the AP's IP address is the from you browser HTTP://10.0.0.1 or the address you detrermined it is set to, via DHCP or prior user. once you signin you will be able o manage the AP. Due to your newnes to the product I reccomeng you only use the Browser interface to configure the AP.

Hi John,

I've quit trying. We put in a Linksys wireless router instead and did what we needed to do.

Too much hassle with the Aironet.
