7985 video phone connectivity

Can a 7985 be plugged directly into an 1841 built-in ethernet port? Looks like a normal router lyr3 interface but documentation implies it can be a switch port? Also, can the 7985 be plugged into a non cisco swich and work properly? Something like a 4 port linksys switch??

I would not think it would be an issue either plugging it into the router ethernet port or the non cisco switch. A couple things to keep in mind though.

1. You may need a crossover cable between the phone and the router ethernet port.

2. Either spot you plug it into you will have to use a power cube/cord to provide power to the 7985 phone unless the switch you use provides 802.1 af Power over ethernet.
