sub-netting in ipv6

i don't think it is necessity for sub-netting in ipv6 since there will be more no.of ip's available. is it true?

It will be required

Internet routing registries would generally hand over a block to you say for eg 2001:1::/64

IPv6 will be using the MAc-address for calculating the last 64 bit interface ID making it unique. However based on your network topology you will have to subnet it further eg subnetting the block to include 2 address for P2P connections etc etc
