SIP Question

Unanswered Question
Feb 18th, 2008

I have a SIP provider that I want to connect to on the Internet. We have Call Manager 6.0 business edition and a 2821 running firewall IOS.

I received this information from the SIP Provider.

They are "using net4 sip parameters"

and

"it does not support IP based authentication as we use the sip server ip i.e 1.1.1.1 for authentication with 9 digit User id & 4 digit Pin number hence call gets initiated over internet cloud."

Is there a best practice for trying to configure this? Should I setup a trunk directly from the Call Manager , or should I try and setup a trunk from the Router?

Thanks for any info.

Ken

I have this problem too.

Hi, both informations are clear as mud.

In any case cisco recommends you place a router between CM and ITSP, for a functionality now called CUBE or more commonly IP-to-IP GW.

I've heard however that you can can get something to work even without it.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
