How CSM response if all real server fail?

Hi All,

If all the real servers in the serverfarm fail the health probe, how is CSM going to response.

1) Will the vserver status be as "not in service" and will the VIP still be pingable?

2) Will the CSM response immediately to the client with a TCP reset packet or what will it response with.

3) Will the CSM hold and wait till the session time-out and continue to probe the real servers.

regards

GYS

Gys,

1/ The status of the vserver will be :

vserver type prot virtual vlan state conns

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWW2 SLB TCP 192.168.30.5/32:81 ALL OUTOFSERVICE 0

No more ping response assuming there is no other vserver with the same ip that would be alive.

2/ The CSM will respond with a RST.

3/ Active sessions will stay active unless you have configured 'failaction purge' on the serverfarm.

'failaction purge' would trigger a RST to be sent to every clients currently active.

Probes will continue to be sent at regular interval from the CSM.

Gilles.
